About Devangini:
I am Devangini Patel, a first year NGS PhD student at NUS. I have done masters in Artificial Intelligence from Southampton University, UK. My masters thesis was about making a robot recognize itself in the mirror.
After this, I have done research at University of Oulu, Finland on facial microexpressions for two years. In this research, I was working on detecting when the facial micro-expressions occur in videos and recognize them as happy, sad, surprise.
My research interests include computer vision, HCI, deep learning and machine learning. People who inspire me are Rodney Brooks, Cynthia Breazeal, Andrew Ng and Mark Nixon.
Besides research, I spend time on blogs, online courses (teaching and learning), sports, games, watching movies and travelling.
