Silver Industry Standards eXchange on March 23, 2017

The launching of the SS 618, a set of guidelines on user interface design for older adults, was held at the Silver Industry Standards eXchange on March 23, 2017 at the Singapore University of Social Sciences.

SS 618 was developed by a Working Group under the SPRING’s Standardisation Programme which is comprised of representatives, Shengdong Zhao and Pin Sym Foong of National University of Singapore (NUS) HCI Lab, Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS, formerly SIM University) and representatives from Council for Third Age, Central Provident Fund Board (CPF), DBS Bank, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GOVTech) and industry players.

We are pleased to share that we have received news coverage of this launch from Channel 5 News, Straits Times, TODAY, Lianhe Zaobao, Berita Harian, MediaCorp (Online), Lianhe Wanbao, The Online Citizen, CAN(Online), Strait Times(Online) and also www.agelessonline.net.

The launch highlighted the standards roadmap for the silver industry and SS 618 guidelines on user interface design for older adults. This standards roadmap will chart the direction for standards development over the next few years to support the goals of the national Action Plan for Successful Ageing in Singapore based on the four key aspects of play, live, work and infrastructure.

The successful implementation of the Roadmap will require your active participation and support. We look forward to working with you closely to identify and develop relevant standards, under the standards roadmap for the silver industry.

Thank you for your support, contributions and participation in the standards work over the years.
